CalDisc is an
extensive law library that contains all of the basic legal
research materials needed for the research and practice of law.
This library includes over 89,000 cases and more! With these
discs, you will get the complete text of California 2d, 3d, and
4th Series cases and California slip opinions, which gives you
the history of cases from 1934 through the most recently
released cases. These discs also contain all 29 California
Codes, California Constitution, California Rules of Court, and legislation from the most recent
legislative session. CalDisc contains this extensive resource
library on a set of four integrated CD-ROMs or One DVD, and
includes free internet access to AccessLaw Online service.

-
Use Keyword searches instead of Key Numbers to find relevant
cases in just a matter of seconds.
-
You can go directly to the paragraphs that contain your
keywords without use of head notes.
-
Copy and paste quotes directly to your documents.
-
Use case citation to find case history.
-
Save valuable time, library space, and money.
The
text of the published cases are organized in reverse
chronological order with Supreme Court cases preceding Appellate
Court cases. Slip opinions are appended to the end of the
infobase. Our proprietary software searches each paragraph of
each case from the beginning to the end (including footnotes and
appendices).
The
text of the codes are organized by code title and by section.
Jump Links
You don't need stacks of books to follow cited opinions. With
CalDisc/DVD you get 'jump links' that instantly take you from
the case you are in to the full text of each and every cited
opinion, all with a keystroke or mouse click.
Official Reports Page Numbers
For accuracy and convenience the opinions, page numbers, and
footnotes are the same as found in the official reports.
Instant Reverse Reference List.
Here's another valuable benefit.
It works sort of like Shepards®. At the front of each opinion is
a 'button', activated by a keystroke or mouse-click, that will
instantly create a list of all opinions that cite the one you
are currently in. It's a fantastic time-saver and CDs from other
publishers don't have it.
The Query Box

Enter
your search in terms of the query box. As fast as you can type
your search terms, CalDisc locates the paragraphs containing the
terms and displays the number of hits you have. You can search
any word or citation contained on the disc.

The Contents
The contents button will produce a dynamic
list of the cases or codes containing your hits. Clicking on
case names in this screen will bring up the cases that interest
you. At all times during your search, your query is displayed in
the lower right template.

Hits

Hits appear with your query words
highlighted. Page numbers for the Official Reports appear in
blue. Citations to the other cases and footnote markers are also
color coded for easy jump linking.

Double clicking on the purple and green
hypertext case citations will link you directly to the
referenced case. For example, clicking on the citation "16
Cal.4th 284" in the screen will bring you directly to the
pin-cited text of the cited case, as displayed here on the
screen shot.

Perform searches in more than one library!

It is easy to perform searches in two or
more libraries simultaneously. Here are two separate searches -
in Codes and in 2d series - produced the following results. Up
to seven levels of headings give you a roadmap to your precise
location within each code (refer to the left side of the image's
screen).
