ADMIN. OFFICE OF THE COURTS AWARDS FILLABLE FORMS CONTRACT TO ACCESSLAW, INC. SPRING CREEK, NV–The Administrative Office of the Courts in California (AOC) has awarded the contract for making electronically fillable California Judicial Council forms to AccessLaw, Inc. Under the terms of the contract, AccessLaw will provide a total of 730 electronically fillable Judicial Council forms for posting on the AOC's web site that will be made available to the public. The AOC initiated this project to make the courts more accessible to the public, and particularly to those that represent themselves in legal matters. Among its efforts to accomplish this goal, they have created an extensive Self-Help Center on the web. Here, Californians can find information and instruction on topics such as filing for divorce, custody and visitation, child support, small claims cases, and other legal matters. "I think it's great that the AOC offers this information to Californians, and hope other states will follow their example," states Michelle K. Lee, Legal Editor of AccessLaw, Inc., "The legal system can be very complex. The more help you can provide, the less scary it will be for people involved in the process. I'm happy that we've been given the opportunity to play a part in making the law easier to access." The electronically fillable forms provided by AccessLaw will be added to the site as they are completed, to enable the public to find the forms and fill them out on home computers, at libraries, or anywhere else they have access to a computer. To see these forms or for other information on the Self-Help Center, go to http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/selfhelp.
